Sitting for a placement test is a requirement to complete registration. This will assist in assessing a student’s language competence and the level into which he/she will be placed.

  • 1. A high school certificate or equivalent.
  • 2. A two-hour written test and ten-minute oral interview at the beginning of the semester before the courses commence.
  • 3. Successful test results are valid for four months from the date of issue.
  • 4. Each language skill is tested and assigned as follows:

Oral testing

  • 5. The oral test will assess an applicant’s communication skills through preparation of a topic in fifteen minutes and then delivering it. A score out of 20 marks is then assigned.
  • 6. There will be an opportunity for applicants who do not meet requirement 1 to register in some courses. This will apply to resident workers in Oman, especially in the eastern province, under conventions signed with their companies.
  • 7. Registration is open to both individuals and groups from academic and non-academic institutions under conventions signed with those institutions.
  • 8. A written commitment must be made to attend classes regularly.

The Placement Test (PT) is an in-house test designed to assess student’s current knowledge and skills in Arabic Language. The student’s performance in this test will be used to decide the appropriate entry point (Stage) to Our Programmes. This will ensure that students don’t waste time in studying material they already know, and at the same time. it equips students with all skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the intended higher education programmes of study.

This placement test is designed to give students and teachers of Arabic a quick way of assessing the approximate level of a student’s knowledge of Arabic grammar and usage. The test should take around 3 hours to complete. At the end of the test you will see your test result and be given a percentage. You will also be able to follow a link to a page which will estimate your level compared.
