Arabic is one of the world’s most important languages and has been rated as one of the four most commonly spoken. It is the official language of 350 million people who enjoy a wide diversity of religious, economic, political and cultural backgrounds and perspectives. It is also one of the official languages of the United Nations. Arabic’s one billion Muslim speakers also recognise the significance of its traditional religious heritage.
The last two decades has seen an increasing demand from speakers of other languages to learn Arabic for a variety of reasons, including enhancing awareness of Arab culture and its rich heritage, or for purposes where the language is used in political, economic or other professional arenas.
A number of short- or long-term core track courses will be offered by the institute in response to student needs. These will be regular or intensive courses.
The institute will offer a foundation course to candidates who have no previous knowledge of the Arabic language.

Educational and entertaining activities will be organised as extra-curricular activities to allow the students to mix learning with fun.
Students will have the opportunity to take part in scientific tours and a variety of activities to explore Arab culture and Oman’s rich heritage. The Sultanate of Oman, Ash Sharqiyyah North and its surrounding regions are renowned for their tourist attractions and the institute will encourage its students to take part in trips to familiarise themselves with the country’s rich culture and heritage. This will provide them a comprehensive experience of language, culture and place in a social and linguistic environment.
